Mariners Injury Update: Dustin Ackley sits again

By on 9/13/2014 07:00:00 PM

The Seattle Mariners enter Saturday night's game against the Oakland A's with a record of 80-66, a half game behind the A's for second place in the American League West. With 16 games left in the season, the Mariners are in a good position to earn a wild card playoff berth. One injury that is a concern coming down the stretch is that of Dustin Ackley, who continues to be out due to a left ankle injury.

I reported on September 10 that Ackley,  who twisted his ankle last Saturday, was still out with bone spurs which would likely sideline him for several more days. Although Ackley had surgery on the same ankle following the 2012 season, manager Lloyd McClendon thought the injury was minor.

Greg Johns, who covers the Mariners for, tweeted the following update on Ackley.
Ackley, in his fourth Major League season, is batting .251 with 11 home runs and 60 RBI this season. He's a career .247 hitter with 33 home runs and 177 RBI.
