Mariners Injury Update: Dustin Ackley out again with sore ankle

By on 9/20/2014 05:45:00 PM

With the Seattle Mariners needing to win every game to stay in the playoff race, they will need to win tonight's game without Dustin Ackley, one of their biggest offensive threats.  Bob Dutton is reporting that not only is Ackley's ankle still a concern for this current game, but it could also pose a problem in the upcoming series against the Toronto Bluejays.
Though he has not quite lived up to his once top prospect status, Ackley has become one of the most important pieces in the Seattle Mariners lineup as he has moved from second base to the outfield.

In his career he is a .246 hitter with 35 home runs and 181 RBIs.  This season he has a .249 batting average with 13 homers and 64 RBIs.

Currently the Mariners are tied for the second wild card spot with the Kansas City Royals.  If they can earn a final playoff spot they have very good odds to win with ace Felix Hernandez likely starting any wild card game.
