Mariners Injury Update: Hisashi Iwakuma battling groin and back problems

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday by the score of 7-5. The win improved the Mariners to 84-75, third in the American League West. With three games remaining, the Mariners are two games out of a wild card spot. Hisashi Iwakuma is scheduled to pitch on Friday against the first-place Los Angeles Angels, but he's been battling groin and back problems.

Shannon Drayer, who covers the Mariners for, tweeted the following on Iwakuma's status.
Iwakuma has struggled over the past six starts. His longest outing during that stretch has been six innings and he's allowed 26 earned runs, 36 hits and nine walks in 25 2/3 innings.

Iwakuma, in his third Major League season, is 14-9 with a 3.54 ERA in 27 games this season. He's allowed 163 hits and 21 walks in 172 2/3 innings, while striking out 150. Iwakuma has a career Major League record of 37-20 with a 3.08 ERA.
