Mets Injury Update: Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Jon Niese

By on 9/29/2014 06:30:00 PM

The New York Mets finished up their season on Sunday with win over the Astros, ending the season with a record of 79-83. Although there aren't any more Met games to be played for quite a while, we still have injury updates to bring to you concerning Jon Niese and Kirk Nieuwenhuis.

Jon Niese does not need to see a doctor, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN. Niese was expected to see a doctor after exiting his last start with an irregular heart beat. This isn't the first time that Niese had to leave a game due to an irregular heart beat, as this has happened a few times since 2011. Niese was initially recommended to have surgery, but after a second examination he was told that no surgery is in fact necessary.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who was hospitalized on Saturday due to an infection (believed to be related to kidney stones) will be discharged on Tuesday. Nieuwenhuis missed the last two games of the 2014 season while hospitalized.
