Nationals Injury Update: Jordan Zimmermann hit by comebacker

By on 9/20/2014 09:30:00 PM

The Washington Nationals dodged a bullet today in Jordan Zimmermann's start as he took a comebacker off of his right throwing shoulder.  He showed his toughness after by remaining in the game against the Miami Marlins.
The Nationals have clearly become the favorites to win the National League East and Zimmerman is one of the big reasons why. On a strong pitching staff, Zimmerman, a Division III standout has become an ace.

After leading the league in wins last year with 19, he has been just as good this season.  Through 30 2014 starts, Zimmerman is 12-5 with a 2.83 ERA which is good enough for fourth best in the NL.  His ability to attack hitters and limit home runs has helped him to become elite.

In six seasons, he has a 55-40 record with a 3.28 ERA.  The Nationals have secured a playoff spot and he will be an important piece if they are to have any postseason success.
