Nationals Injury Update: Ryan Zimmerman activated

By on 9/20/2014 04:00:00 PM

The Washington Nationals have already clinched the National League East and are one of the most feared teams in all of baseball, but they are about to get even stronger. Ryan Zimmerman has been reinstated from the disabled list and is expected to play in the team's final eight games of the season.
The former first round draft pick has been on the disabled list since injuring his hamstring on July 22nd. Though the Nationals have cruised to the NL East title, his addition to the lineup should help them to get even better. He will have the next eight games to be eased in and be ready to back to playing at a high level for the divisional series.

In 55 games this season, Zimmerman has a .282 batting average with five home runs and 36 RBIs.

While he has been injury prone throughout his career, Zimmerman has hit 184 career homers and has a .286 lifetime batting average.

If the Nationals were not already the favorite to win the NL, Zimmerman now puts them in that position.
