Nuggets Injury Update: Danilo Gallinari expects to play in first preseason game

By on 9/26/2014 11:30:00 AM

The Denver Nuggets approach training camp following a disappointing 2013-2014 in which they won only 36  games. This came off a 57-25 record in 2012-2013. A major issue contributing to the poor season was injuries. Only four players appeared in over 70 games. They played the entire season without forward Danilo Gallinari, who had a procedure last June on a partially torn ACL and reconstructive surgery in January. The good news is Gallinari is ready for training camp and expects to play in the first preseason game.

Gallinari's rehab for his torn ACL went as planned during the off season. He joined the Italian national team last month for workouts and although didn't play any games, was confident he'd be ready to return for training camp.

Jeff Caplan of tweeted the following update on Gallinari.
Gallinari was drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round in 2008.  In 2012-2103, he set a career high in scoring, at 16.2 points per game, to go along with 5.2 rebounds.  In 285 career games, Gallinari is averaging 14.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
