Orioles Injury Update: Nick Markakis still out with sore shoulder

By on 9/21/2014 04:45:00 PM

Although Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis has been out of the lineup with a sore shoulder since getting hit by a pitch earlier in the week, there are no major concerns that the injury will linger.  Markakis has missed the entire weekend series against the Boston Red Sox, but Dan Connolly is reporting that X-rays showed nothing to be concerned with.
With the Orioles focused on their future in October there is no reason to rush Markakis back early from injury.

Since his original callup he has been a fixture in the Orioles lineup. Through his nine year career he has appeared in over 160 games five times.  This season Markakis has a .282 batting average with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs.  He is a career .290 hitter with 139 homers.

Delmon Young got the start in his place for the Sunday finale in Baltimore.  He is a .302 hitter who has been on fire since coming over to the Orioles.
