Orioles Injury Update: Nick Markakis back in lineup

By on 9/23/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Baltimore Orioles lost to the New York Yankees on Monday night. Even with the loss, the Orioles are 93-63 on the season, first in the American League East. The Orioles managed just a single and struck out 11 times off four Yankees' pitchers. There was some good news for the Orioles, as Nick Markakis was back in the lineup in right field.

Our own Pete Schwichtenberg reported on September 21 that Markakis was still out of the lineup after being hit in his shoulder by a pitch earlier in the week.

Roch Kubatko, who covers the Orioles for MASN, tweeted the following, confirming the status of Markakis for Monday's game:
Markakis, in his ninth Major League season, is batting .271 with 12 home runs and 44 RBI. in 150 games. In 1,359 career games, all with the Orioles, Markakis has a batting average of .290 with 139 home runs and 652 RBI.
