Padres Injury Update: Abraham Almonte exits with left leg injury

By on 9/20/2014 10:00:00 PM

Abraham Almonte of the Padres left Saturday’s game against the Giants due to injuring his left leg. He hit a ground rule double into right center and pulled up at first base. Unknown whether it is a hamstring or an ankle, which he has injured in the past.

Abraham, 25, broke his bat on the swing and seemed like he took a bad step out of the box. He was immediately taken out of the game and Will Venable replaced him at second.

The speedy outfielder was acquired by San Diego in the Chris Denorfia trade and has hit for a slash of .230/.275/.333 this season while carrying an OPS of .609.

In 83 career games, Almonte has a line of .236/.283./.345 with 5 home runs, 24 RBI, 18 walks, 81 strikeouts, and a .628 OPS. He has a combined WAR of 0.8.

We will update you when more information comes out. Right now, the Padres are playing spoiler against the Giants trying to win the series tonight.
