Panthers Injury Update: DeAngelo Williams expected to play

By on 9/21/2014 10:26:00 AM

Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is expected to play today against the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN.com's David Newton reports that Williams took reps with the first team on Friday and appears ready to go.

The team's all-time leading rusher missed last week's 24-7 victory over Detroit with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice this week and is listed as questionable on the injury report.

Coach Ron Rivera said. "Hopefully, there is no overwhelming soreness and he'll be good to go for Sunday."

Wide receivers Jason Avant and Jerricho Cotchery are also questionable with hamstring injuries.

It appears Cotchery has the least chance of playing. He did not participate in practice on Friday.
