Panthers Injury Update-DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart

By on 9/25/2014 07:00:00 PM

The Carolina Panthers have been hit by injuries at running back early this season, with DeAngelo Williams (thigh) sitting out Week 3 and Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Mike Tolbert (leg) coming out of the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers banged up.

Williams returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday, which has him on track to return to action on Sunday, and even if he's at less than full strength the Panthers will likely need him to be a 20-plus touch workhorse against the Baltimore Ravens.

Stewart is at best week-to-week right now with a sprained right knee, and he may be out for a month, while Tolbert will be out until fairly late in the season after being placed on injured reserve/designated to return this week with a hairline fracture in his left leg.

That leaves undrafted rookie Darrin Reaves, and possibly recent practice squad signing Tauren Poole, behind Williams against Baltimore with Fozzy Whittaker (quad) also likely to be out this week.
