Patriots Injury Update: Sealver Siliga placed on short-term IR

By on 9/28/2014 07:15:00 PM

The New England Patriots’ defense took a hit on Saturday when it was announced that their DE Sealver Siliga would be placed on the team’s short-term IR. The injury occurred during the first quarter of last Sunday’s 16 – 9 victory over the forever-terrible Oakland Raiders.

Sealver has to be disappointed by this. According to sports writer Kevin Patra of Around the NFL, the injury will force the DE to miss approximately eight weeks. This also means that even if Siliga is able to recover quickly, he will still have to wait six weeks to practice with the team. On the bright side, the Patriots were able to find a replacement rather quickly, signing former Panthers defensive lineman Casey Walker.

When he was a rookie 2011, Siliga went undrafted that year and since then has been juggled around the league by a handful of teams. After finally being signed to the Patriots’ practice squad in 2013, Siliga may have found his home in New England, playing in both of the team’s past two games. I really hope Siliga is able to make a full recovery and finds his way back onto the field where he belongs.

As for tomorrow night’s game, the Patriots are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at 8:30 PM EST at the Arrowhead Stadium.
