Penguins Injury Update: Beau Bennett suffers leg injury, will miss six weeks

By on 9/29/2014 10:00:00 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that winger Beau Bennett will miss the next six weeks with an apparent left knee injury.

Chad Johnson had this to say through the Pittsburgh Penguins official twitter account:
According to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh-Tribune Review, Bennett fell to the ice clutching his left knee during a three-on-three scrimmage after Kasperi Kapanen had his skate scrape Bennett's heel, causing him to fall “awkwardly”.

Beau Bennett had finally recovered from a wrist injury that caused him to miss 50 games during the 2013-2014 season. During the preseason, Bennett had produced a goal and an assist in two games while maintaining a +/- of plus 2. The Penguins had plans of pairing Bennett with center Brandon Sutter and using his creativity to add to the offensive flow of the Penguins.

Bennett took a break from his self-imposed hiatus on Twitter to express his feelings about his most recent injury. “Good time to break the Twitter hiatus, haven’t had the best luck and no one is more mad/sad than me. It’s getting embarrassing, I’m sorry.”
