Phillies Injury Update: Mario Hollands to 60-day DL

By on 9/06/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Philadelphia Phillies entered a weekend series against the Washington Nationals with a record of 64-75 on the season. Well back in the playoff race, the Phillies can spend the next 23 days evaluating young talent for next season. One young player who will not see any more action this season is reliever Mario Hollands, who has been placed on the 60-day disabled list

I reported on September 4 that Hollands allowed a run in 2/3 of an inning the previous night before leaving the game with tightness in his left forearm.

An update on Hollands, according to the official Twitter account of the Philadelphia Phillies,
This news means that Hollands has thrown his last pitch for the Phillies this season. Hollands is 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 50 appearances this season. In 47 innings, he's allowed 45 hits and only three home runs, with 21 walks and 35 strikeouts.
