Pirates Injury Update: Josh Harrison out Sunday with twisted ankle

By on 9/07/2014 01:15:00 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman/shortstop Josh Harrison will sit out Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs after twisting his ankle in Saturday's completion of Friday's suspended game. The Pirates released the lineup at approximately 12:30 p.m. EDT. Jordy Mercer will play shortstop, and Brent Morel will patrol third base.

The photo shows Harrison on the ground after injuring himself while throwing the ball in after a catch. Harrison made an incredible over-the-shoulder catch on a popup, circled around to throw, turned his ankle, and fell (video). He left the game immediately as we reported Saturday.

NBC Sports' Rotoworld says that Harrison performed running drills Sunday morning in hope of playing, "but apparently wasn't felling well enough." The Pirates Injury Report lists Harrison as day-to-day.
