By on 9/01/2014 12:45:00 PM

The Pittsburgh Pirates begin a series against the St. Louis Cardinals today with a record of 71-65, two games behind the Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. The Pirates are geared to make a push at the division title during this final month of the season, as Gerrit Cole will start today and Stolmy Pimentel has been activated from the disabled list.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 16 that Pimentel was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain.

Pimenteal has now been activated, according to the official Twitter page of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pimentel, in his second Major League season, is 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 19 games. He's allowed 33 hits and walked 16 in 31 2/3 innings, while striking out 37. In 24 career games, Pimentel is 2-1 with a 4.61 ERA.
