The Oakland Raiders may have gotten some good news regarding running back Maurice Jones-Drew yesterday. It appears that Jones-Drew has recovered from the hand surgery that kept him off the field during the teams 30 – 14 loss to the Texans last Sunday.
Vic Tafur of The San Francisco Chronicle tweeted this out regarding the Jones-Drew update yesterday:
#Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) said he’s doing everything he can to be able to play Sunday. (I think he does)

I wouldn’t call myself a Jones-Drew fan or an Oakland fan for that matter, but I’m glad to hear that he’ll be returning. Jones-Drew is still only 29 and has accomplished a great deal since being drafted back in 2006 by the Jaguars. He’s a former three time Pro Bowler, three time All-Pro and lead the league in rushing yards back in 2011. There is no way a team like Oakland can’t use a player like that on the field, even if his first game as a Raider didn’t turn out well.
The Raiders next game will come on Sunday when they take on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
