Raiders Injury Update: Rod Streater, Maurice Jones-Drew

By on 9/26/2014 02:22:00 PM

The Oakland Raiders are currently dealing with two injuries that definitely affects their offense.
The first being Rod Streater (foot), whose agent said the wide receiver "needs minor surgery and would be back in four to five weeks," as tweeted by @BWilliamsonESPN on September 24th.

Since that tweet, there has been an update to Streater's possible return, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Raiders' head coach Dennis Allen said that it was too early to determine whether Streater would be able to return at all this season. He sustained a foot injury that will require him to undergo surgery. Early reports assumed he would miss a month or so, but that may not be the case, as reported by Michael Hurcomb at

The second injury update is for Maurice Jones-Drew (hand). The Raiders' running back told NFL Media's Terrell Davis he will be in the lineup on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Jones-Drew has sat out the last two weeks due to a hand injury that required surgery, as reported by Marc Sessler, an Around the NFL writer.

Jones-Drew's return will definitely help a struggling Raiders running game to try and take some pressure off their rookie quarterback. The Raiders have a long road ahead and things are certainly not going to be easy. This once feared and respected franchise still remains in a hole they can't seem to dig out of.
