Rangers Injury Update: Alex Rios done for season

By on 9/22/2014 08:00:00 AM

The Texas Rangers enter the final week of the 2014 season with a dismal record of 62-93, last in the American League West. Injuries have derailed the Rangers, as 12 players are on the 60-day disabled list and only five have played in over 120 games. Alex Rios, who has appeared in 131 games, is done for the rest of the season with a thumb injury.

Our own Keri Carbaagh reported on September 13 that Rios,  who has been out of the lineup since August 27 with a sore thumb, had a setback when his thumb got infected.

Jeff Wilson, who covers the Rangers for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, tweeted the following update on Rios.
The injury ends a disappointing season for Rios, who finishes with a .280 batting average with four home runs and 54 RBI. The 11-year veteran outfielder has played for the Blue Jays, White Sox and Rangers and has a career batting average of .278 with 165 home runs, 762 RBI and 244 stolen bases.
