Rangers Injury Update: Jake Smolinski, Michael Choice

By on 9/17/2014 10:45:00 AM

It seems unfortunately rather fitting for the Texas Rangers that when they do finally get a player back from injury, another is ruled out for the rest of the season. Jake Smolinski was activated from the disabled list on Tuesday, but barely no time had passed before it became clear that Michael Choice, who strained his hamstring on Sunday, would not return this year:

Smolinski has been out for almost two months with what eventually turned out to be a small fracture in his foot. The Rangers outfield, like the rest of the team, has been falling apart, with Shin-Soo Choo out for the season (and now recovering from his second surgery in a month), Alex Rios almost constantly bothered by both thumb and ankle issues, and even backups getting hurt almost as quickly as they are brought in, like Jim Adduci struggling with a concussion.
