Rangers Injury Update: Scott Baker not ready for Friday start

By on 9/18/2014 11:45:00 AM

The Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland A's on Wednesday by the score of 6-1. The win was just the 59th of the season for the Rangers, who has struggled through a dismal season. They are 20th in the league in runs scored, but have been hampered by injuries, particularly to the pitching which has contributed to a team ERA of 4.63. On the injury front, pitcher Scott Baker will not be ready for his next start on Friday due to an ailing right triceps.

Our own Darius Austin reported on September 13 that Baker was scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday with right triceps tendonitis.

Jeff Wilson, who covers the Rangers for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, tweeted the following on Baker's status.
The Rangers pitching injuries include the likes of Yu Darvish, Matt Harrison, Martin Perez, and Tanner Scheppers, all on the 60-day DL.

Baker, in his ninth Major League season, is 3-4 with a 5.52 ERA. He didn't play in the Major Leagues in 2012 and appeared in just three games last season with the Cubs, posting a 3.60 ERA in 15 innings. Baker has a career record of 66-52 with a 4.24 ERA.
