Rays Injury Update: Desmond Jennings still out with knee issue

By on 9/03/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Rays lost to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday by the score of 8-2. The loss dropped the Rays to 67-72 on the season, fourth in the American League East. The Rays, who are 20th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, managed just two runs and two hits. Outfielder Desmond Jennings was once again out of the lineup due to a knee injury.

I reported on August 30 that Jennings was out of the lineup due to a sore knee. After a few days off, it appears that Jennings is not progressing.

Chris Towers of reported that Jennings missed his fifth straight game with a knee injury, as he was out of the lineup again on Tuesday night.  He last played on August 28, when he went 2-for-4 against the Baltimore Orioles.

Jennings, in his fifth Major League season, is batting .244 with 10 home runs and 36 RBI this season.  He had a career-high 14 home runs and 54 RBI last season. Desmond is a career .248 hitter with 47 home runs and 164 RBI.
