By on 9/25/2014 06:30:00 AM

The Tampa Bay Rays entered Wednesday night's game against the Boston Red Sox with a record of 76-81, fourth in the American League East. The Rays have struggled offensively, ranked 24th in the Major Leagues in runs scored, but have stayed close to .500 because of a pitching staff with a solid ERA of 3.49. On the injury front, catcher Ryan Hanigan was scratched from last night's game due to a sore toe. He's currently listed as day-to-day.

Marc Topkin, who covers the Rays for the Tampa Bay Times, tweeted the following on Hanigan's status prior to last night's game.
Curt Casali, who entered the game with a batting average of .167 in 72 at-bats this season, got the start in place of Hanigan.

Hanigan, in his eighth Major League season, is batting .221 with five home runs and 24 RBI this season. The veteran catcher has played for the Reds and Rays and has a career batting average of .257 with 25 home runs and 172 RBI in 555 games.
