Red Sox Injury Update: Brock Holt not cleared to play

By on 9/13/2014 07:00:00 AM

The Boston Red Sox have had a dismal 2014 season following a World Series championship a year ago. At 64-83 entering Friday's game, the Red Sox were 23 1/2 games back in the American League East. Injuries have played a part in the poor season and one player, Brock Holt, who has not played since September 5, remains out after being diagnosed with a concussion.

Our own Nathaniel Reeves reported yesterday that Holt, who has not played since September 5 due to concussion-like symptoms, went to see a head trauma specialist on Thursday.

Brian MacPherson, who covers the Red Sox for, tweeted the following on Holt's status.
Holt, in his third Major League season, is batting .281 with four home runs and 29 RBI this season. He played in just 50 games combined with the Pirates and Red Sox in 2012 and 2013. Holt has a career batting average of .274 with four home runs and 43 RBI in 156 games.
