Red Sox Injury Update: Dustin Pedroia takes batting practice

By on 9/05/2014 06:45:00 AM

After having to leave this past Saturday's game with a concussion, Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia's health appears to be improving.
MLB.com's Ian Browne reports that Pedroia not only took early batting practice, but he was also able to pass his on-line concussion tests.  He is expected to play in Boston's upcoming home series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

This is great news for Boston, as many others have struggled to come back and have had post-concussion symptoms.

Signed through 2021, Pedroia is set to be the present and the future of the Red Sox at second base.  This year he has a .280 batting average with seven homers and 51 RBIs.

In his absence, Brock Holt and Jemile Weeks have seen playing time at second base. Holt has been a steady utility player for the Red Sox this season, while Weeks is trying to get his career back on track after two rough seasons.
