Red Sox Injury Update: Mike Napoli, Brock Holt

By on 9/07/2014 12:15:00 PM

Sickness appears to be going through the Boston Red Sox clubhouse as both Mike Napoli and Brock Holt have exited games early due to illness.
MLB.com's Steven Petrella is reporting that Napoli exited last night's game due to lightheadness and nausea.  These were the same apparent symptoms that cause Holt to miss time during Friday night's game.

While this season has not gone as planned for Napoli and the Red Sox, he has remained a force in their everyday lineup.  This season he is batting .257 through his first 113 games. He also has remained one of the team's biggest run producers, by slugging 17 home runs and driving in 54.

Holt, on the other hand, has done everything that has been asked of him this season in Boston. As a utility man, he has seen time in both the infield and outfield and also been shifted throughout the lineup. Playing in 106 games, Holt has set career highs in every offensive category.  He has a .281 batting average with four homers and 29 RBIs. He also has 12 stolen bases.  Though the beginning of his career was a struggle, Holt certainly looks to remain a Red Sox for a long time.
