By on 9/29/2014 06:00:00 AM

The Boston Red Sox lost to the New York Yankees yesterday by the score of 9-5. The loss ended the Red Sox season with a record of 71-91, last in the American League East. The Red Sox finished 19th in runs scored and 22nd in ERA. The final game of the season was played without shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who was out with hamstring tightness.

Our own Ryan O'Rourke reported on September 24 that Bogaerts, who hurt his neck during batting practice on September 21, has been day to day.

Pete Abraham, who covers the Red Sox for The Boston Globe, tweeted the following on Bogaerts.
Bogaerts finished his first full Major League season with a .240 batting average with 12 home runs and 46 RBI. He hit .250 in 18 games last season and has a career batting average of .241 with 13 home runs and 51 RBI.
