Detroit Red Wings are not having a good start to season with the injury bug. They have Daniel Alfredsson (who is still unsigned) suffering from an ailing injury, as well Pavel Datsyuk is suffering from a separated shoulder injury...and now Darren Helm is suffering from a facial injury.

Helm broke his nose during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after getting hit with a high stick from Penguins player Beau Bennett. Bennett got a double minor for the high sticking.

It is unlikely Helm will miss any time from the injury. He is sitting out for precaution but should be joining his teammates soon.

Helm has had two off years with numerous of injuries. The injuries have sidelined him for 58 games (over two seasons) with a lingering back injury. He also missed another 26 games from a head, shoulder and groin issues.

Last season Helm played 42 games, had 12 goals and eight assists.
