Red Wings Injury Update: Jonathan Ericsson is still recovering from finger surgery

By on 9/12/2014 12:00:00 PM

The Detroit Red Wings Jonathan Ericsson will be at training camp next season but he is not at full health.

Ericsson is still recovering from finger surgery that cut his 2013-2014 season short. He had the surgery to stabilize a fracture to his finger.

Ericsson says, "Its been a frustrating summer with training and all that," "It's hard even holding the bar with weights on...But I should be fine."

"I'm not going to be 100%," Ericsson said of his readiness. "But I'll be there."

Ericsson has had setbacks from the surgery but he is confident to play on opening night, even if that means going through the pain. If for some reason he has another setback before then, the Red Wings will be without one of their top defenseman. He has played top minutes the past two seasons.

Last season Ericsson played 48 games, had one goal and 10 assists.
