Reds right hander Mat Latos has been scratched from his start Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers with a bone bruise in his right elbow, reports John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Rookie right-hander Daniel Corcino will start. The Reds are out of the NL Central race, while the Brewers are fighting for a Wild Card.

Corcino, a recent call-up, has appeared in two major league games (both in relief) allowing four hits, one walk and three earned runs while striking out three in 2.2 innings. He made 26 starts (and one relief appearance) at the Double-A and Triple-A levels in 2014, going 10-12 with a 4.24 ERA.

He was also a workhorse for the San Diego Padres, who drafted him in 2006 (11th round), and traded him in December 2011 to the Reds for Yonder AlonsoBrad BoxbergerYasmani Grandal and Edinson Volquez. Latos is in his second year of arbitration ($7.25 million) and under team control through 2015.
