Redskins Injury Update: Barry Cofield placed on short-term IR

By on 9/10/2014 10:40:00 PM

The Washington Redskins announced on Tuesday that they have placed starting nose tackle Barry Cofield on IR with a designation to return.

According to Tarik El-Bashir from CSNWashington.com:

Cofield, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Texans, will be eligible to rejoin practice in six weeks and return to the lineup against Tampa Bay at home on Nov. 16.

Cofield has been durable during his nine year career, only missing one game way back in 2008. In Cofield's absence, Coach Jay Gruden said Chris Baker could move over from left end to nose tackle, where he played some last year. Baker and the rest of the defensive line are going to have to step up in place of the 305 pound big man while he recovers from what can a tricky injury to heal.
