Redskins Injury Update: DeSean Jackson plans to play

By on 9/18/2014 10:45:00 AM

The Washington Redskins lost quarterback Robert Griffin III to an ankle injury during last Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and wide receiver DeSean Jackson also left the game with a left shoulder injury and was unable to return. While Griffin will be out for awhile, Jackson said he plans to play this coming Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jackson has been diagnosed with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, but he appears to have avoided any structural damage. It's not too surprising he missed practice on Wednesday, and the team considered him day-to-day on Monday, but Jackson's level of activity in practice on Thursday will be a better indicator of his ability to suit up on Sunday.

Jackson will surely be motivated to show the Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly they made a mistake by releasing him, even if he is less than 100 percent healthy. Regardless of how he is officially listed on Friday's injury report, I expect Jackson to be in uniform against his former team and ready to be a primary target for Kirk Cousins.
