Redskins Injury Update: Jordan Reed to undergo MRI

By on 9/08/2014 12:30:00 PM

The Washington Redskins took a beating in week one at the hands of the Houston Texans. Their offense could only manage six points. To pour salt in the wound, less than one quarter into the season, the fragile, yet talented, tight end, Jordan Reed, suffered yet another injury.

Mike Jones reported:
Reed had a breakout season of sorts in 2013, while he was on the field. According to, Reed played in just nine games, accruing 45 receptions for 499 yards and three scores. That's a pace for 80 or so receptions and 900+ yards over 16 games. The problem is that he missed seven games with quad and knee injuries, plus a concussion. That's a cause for concern.

Reed was looked at as a high end tight end in fantasy leagues, but due to his injury history, was a boom or bust candidate. The Redskins have a deep core of pass catchers, but were expected to utilize Reed often, particularly in the red zone. Soft tissue injuries can be tricky. Hopefully it's just a mild strain and he can return to action sooner rather than later.
