Rockies Injury Update: Nolan Arenado has pneumonia

By on 9/16/2014 08:15:00 PM

Colorado Rockies (59-91) third baseman Nolan Arenado is battling pneumonia and is at home resting while the rest of his team plays the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Rockies are unsure when Arenado will return.

Nick Groke of the Denver Post tweeted this afternoon that Arenado was resting at home after his diagnosis of pneumonia.  On Sunday, Arenado also suffered a chest contusion in the Rockies finale with the St. Louis Cardinals and he is still dealing with discomfort.
The third baseman is batting .287/.328/.500 with 18 home runs and 61 RBIs in 111 games.  However, Arenado’s defense at third has been the highlight of his season.  He has a .959 fielding percentage and may earn his second National League Gold Glove Award.

The Rockies will probably not rush Arenado back this season.  They are going to end the season with a losing record with no chance to go to the postseason.  The Rockies play game two of the series with the Dodgers tonight at 8:40 PM.
