Royals Injury Update; Josh Willingham out with sore ribcage

By on 9/01/2014 08:00:00 PM

The AL Central leading Royals will take on the Rangers tonight in Kansas City as they begin a 3 game series. They will do so without Josh Willingham, as he will sit out with soreness in his ribcage and won't even swing the bat until Tuesday.

Willingham, who was acquired from the Twins on August 12th, has hit .267/.377/.489 so far for the Royals to go along with 2 HRs and 6 RBIs, bringing his stats for the year to .219/.350/.416 and 14 HRs and 40 RBI.

The Royals will enter play tied with the Tigers for the AL Central lead. With a win over the Rangers, they will be a half game up on Detroit. However, Willingham's absence shouldn't have too much of an impact on the game tonight, as the Rangers are currently MLB's worst team, at 53-83.
