Sharks Injury Update: Raffi Torres to undergo ACL surgery this month

By on 9/11/2014 09:00:00 PM

San Jose Sharks are expected to be without Raffi Torres for the first half of the season.

Last season he had surgery to repair his ACL that he tore in the preseason. He had the surgery September and only came back at the end of February. Half a season does not sound that bad when Torres only played five games last season and all seven games in the playoffs. He missed 14 games between his last regular season game played and the playoffs due to 'soreness.'

Torres said he was "skating around pretty much on one leg” during the playoffs.

Torres first tore his right ACL in 2007 and missed 11 months from the surgery and suffering a setback.

Last season he tore the knee again, missed several months. Last month he had surgery to remove an infection in his knee. Now he has to repair the ACL again.

Torres is in his second year of his three year contract. He has a cap hit of 2 million dollars.
