Tigers Injury Update: Anibal Sanchez targeting mound session Monday

By on 9/15/2014 07:45:00 AM

There is hope in Detroit as Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez looks to return to the rotation at some point this season.  James Schmehl is reporting that Tigers manager Brad Ausmus is "cautiously optimistic" that he will soon be able to return.
In his six career postseason starts, Sanchez has been one of the club's best starters.  His late addition could make the Tigers very difficult to beat, with a playoff rotation of David Price, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander and Sanchez.

Sanchez has not pitched since August 9th and suffered has already suffered one setback, but Schmehl stated that he is set to throw off of a mound on Monday.  If all things go successfully a return would look much more realistic.

After leading the league in ERA last season, Sanchez has gone 8-5 with a 3.46 ERA this season.  With the division and playoff race tight his return could have a significant impact.
