Detroit Tigers right fielder Torii Hunter stayed in the game colliding with center fielder Don Kelly in the 7th inning of Detroit's 9-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals (video here and below). Lorenzo Cain scored an inside-the-park home run on the play. Hunter appeared to be OK, but was checked for concussion symptoms, reports Jason Beck of The victory brought Detroit to one game back of the Royals for the AL Central lead and ½ game back in the AL Wild Card chase.

The 38-year-old Hunter is batting .282/.318/.444 (OPS+ 109) with 15 homers and 75 RBI in 124 games. Hunter has lost a few games this season with a right hamstring cramp and various bruises but has not required a DL stint since undergoing off-season surgery for a sports hernia in November 2009.

Torii Hunter
Veteran of 18 major league seasons, Hunter is a five-time All-Star, with nine Gold Glove and two Silver Slugger awards. In 2013 his .304/.334/.465 line, 17 homers and 92 RBI helped the Tigers to the postseason, where the Tigers lost to the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS—and Hunter was the "legs up" in this iconic photo.

Hunter was the Minnesota Twins' first round draft pick in 1993 and made his debut August 22, 1997. After eleven seasons with the Twins, he signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels in November 2007 and spent five seasons with the Halos. Again a free agent in 2013, he signed a two year $26 million contract with the Tigers though 2014.
