Titans Injury Update: Zach Brown likely out for season

By on 9/09/2014 01:30:00 PM

The Tennessee Titans were one of week one’s surprises. Quarterback Jake Locker looked phenomenal and his defense stood strong against one of 2013’s most high powered offenses. Unfortunately, the Titans will have to adjust to life without one of their best players and defensive leaders.

Middle linebacker, Zach Brown, suffered a torn pectoral muscle during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Though he will go through additional tests Tuesday, the injury is feared to be season ending.

The 24-year-old had a poor year in 2013 but managed to lock up a starting position with the new Titans staff.

"He was really doing a nice job, so I'm disappointed for Zach,'' Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt said on Monday. "To me, it means a lot when you do what is being asked of you and you change the perception of you. And I was hopeful that would continue from the standpoint of him having a good season. At this point, this juncture, it won't, and that's too bad."

Perhaps Brown will have another chance to redeem himself in 2015. For the time being, former third round pick, Zaviar Gooden, will take over Brown’s duties. If he fills in well, the Titans could be a dangerous force this season.
