Twins Injury Update: Joe Mauer aggravates injured shoulder

By on 9/01/2014 06:00:00 PM

The Minnesota Twins defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Monday by the score of 6-4. The win improved the Twins to 60-77, last in the American League Central. Joe Mauer lead the Twins' attack going 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBI. The bad news is that he aggravated a shoulder injury. Mauer played the entire game as the designated hitter and there is no word if he'll need to miss any time.

Our own Darius Austin reported on August 12 that Mauer was activated from the disabled list, even though he still felt soreness in his oblique when swinging and expected to do so for the rest of the season.

Mike Berardino, who covers the Twins for, tweeted the following update on Mauer.
Mauer, in his 11th Major League season, is batting .276 with four home runs and 45 RBI in 96 games this season. Mauer had a career season in 2009 when he hit .365 with 28 home runs and 96 RBI. He's a career .319 hitter with 109 home runs and 675 RBI in 1,274 games.
