Twins Injury Update: Trevor Plouffe exits with broken arm

By on 9/24/2014 04:30:00 PM

The Minnesota Twins have had a rough season, winners of just 67 games entering Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A staff with the 29th-ranked ERA in the Major Leagues has played a big role in the dismal season. Injuries have also been a factor and it continued Wednesday, as third baseman Trevor Plouffe left the game against the Diamondbacks in the sixth inning with a broken arm.

LaVelle E. Neal III, who covers the Twins for the Star Tribune, tweeted the following after Plouffe's injury.
Neal reported Plouffe's fracture minutes later with this tweet.
Plouffe's season ends with a .258 batting average, 40 doubles, 14 home runs and 80 RBI. The third baseman, in his fifth Major League season, hit a career-high 24 home runs in 2012. Plouffe is a career .245 hitter with 62 home runs and 224 RBI in 487 games.
