Yankees Injury Update: Carlos Beltran scratched with sore elbow

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday by the score of 8-5 to improve to 74-69 on the season. The Yankees remain in the wild card race at four and a half games out with 19 games to play. They were without the services of Carlos Beltran, who was out of the lineup with a sore elbow.

Bryan Hoch, who covers the Yankees for, tweeted the following on Beltran.
Derek Jeter started at DH in place of Beltran and went 0-for-4. He's batting .256 in his final Major League season. Brendan Ryan started at shortstop and went 0-for-4.

Beltran, in his 17th Major League season, is batting .236 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI. The veteran has played for the Royals, Astros, Mets, Giants, Cardinals and Yankees and has a career batting average of .281 with 373 home runs and 1,376 RBI.
