Yankees Injury Update: Chase Headley's tests negative

By on 9/13/2014 07:15:00 AM

On the same night that Giancarlo Stanton exited early after being hit in the face with a pitch, New York Yankee third baseman Chase Headley took a pitch in the face in the 9th inning of their ball game.  Bryan Hoch is reporting that Headley's tests have come back negative and that he is back with the team.
Being five games back in the wild card race, every game for the Yankees has become must win, and they cannot afford to lose anyone for any period of time if they hope to give Derek Jeter one more playoff run.

Since coming over to the Yankees from San Diego, Headley has batted .253 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in 45 games. He also paid immediate diviends by coming through in the clutch in his first game as a Yankee with a game winning single.

In his career he has been a Gold Glove winning third baseman, an All-Star candidate, and a Silver Slugger.  His best season came in 2012 when he launched 31 home runs and drove in a league leading 115 RBIs.   He is a career .265 hitter with 91 career homers.
