Yankees Injury Update: David Phelps activated

By on 9/12/2014 02:45:00 PM

The Yankees activated David Phelps from the 15 day DL Friday morning. Phelps has been on the DL with an elbow injury since early August.
Phelps pitched to a 5-5 record, with a 4.24 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with the Yanks in 2014 before going on the DL. Although he started 17 games this year for the Yankees, he will return as a reliever, reports Aaron Gleeman.

This move to the bullpen may not be permanent, notes Gleeman. Phelps could compete for a spot in the rotation in Spring Training.
