Yankees Injury Update: Martin Prado out Wednesday

By on 9/04/2014 01:30:00 PM

Last night the Yankees and Red Sox went at it again in the Bronx, in a game that saw the Yankees win 5-1. The Yankees were without their hottest hitter, Martin Prado, on Wednesday night due to a left hamstring strain, an injury that will keep likely keep him out of Thursdays game too.

Prado being out is not good for the Yankees, who are struggling to stay in playoff contention. Prado has been one of the key contributors for the Yanks since coming over from Arizona in a deadline deal. In his last 16 games, he's hitting .381 with 4 HRs, 11 RBIs, 6 doubles, and scored 11 runs, per Jamal Collier .

With Prado sitting out Thursday, I'm sure the hope is that he will be ready to go by the weekend, as the Yanks take on the AL Central leading Royals in the Bronx. The Yanks will have to count on others to step up during Prados absence if they want to stay in contention for a Wild Card spot. They are currently 4 games behind the Tigers for the second wild card spot.
