Bears Injury Report: Martellus Bennett, Lance Briggs, Jonathan Bostic

By on 10/26/2014 12:15:00 PM

For the Chicago Bears, locking up a victory today against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots could really help this team shake out of its recent troubles. With a record of 3 – 4 on the season, by no means are the Bears playing the kind of football they are capable of:

The Bears’ final Week 8 Injury Report appears to be somewhat of a mixed bag; some good news and some not so good news. Lets start with the bad news first, that way by the end of the report you are a little more kind in the comment section.

Of the list of ten, S Danny McCray (knee) is the only player that has been completely ruled out by the Bears. Being that he was a DNP all week at practice, this really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

As for fellow linebackers Jonathan Bostic (back) and Lance Briggs (ribs), while both were able to participate in light practice last week, the Bears felt that neither was ready and has deemed them both doubtful. I wouldn’t bet on either of these guys making a surprise appearance.

DE Jared Allen was also unable to practice this week though the reason for his absence is not injury related. At this point, Allen’s status is still unknown and shouldn’t be expected to play today.

Fellow teammate NT Jeremiah Ratliff was also a DNP at practice on Friday because of an undisclosed reason. The good news is despite his absence, the team still believes Ratliff to be probable for today’s game.

In the case of T Jordon Mills (foot), it would appear that after light practice on Thursday, Mills either reinjured or was held out of practice on Friday for precautionary reasons. Whatever the reason, the Bears consider Jordon questionable and a long shot come game time.

As for the good news, the Bears should expect to see S Chris Conte (shoulder) and CB Kyle Fuller (hip/hand) back in action today. Although they are not 100% guaranteed, both players were able to participate in full practice on Friday.

WR Chris Williams had been suffering from an illness earlier in the week, but by Friday’s practice it would appear that Williams was feeling much better. With some rest before the game, I’m sure the bug that was bothering Williams is long gone.

Finally that leaves TE Martellus Bennett (hamstring). Despite not participating earlier in the week, Bennett found himself capable of taking part in full practice on Friday, giving the Bears reason to believe that he could play today.

With the Patriots on a roll as of late, and Brady looking like he will be ready to go come tip-off, the Bears will need to dig deep if they’re going to get a win on the road and improve a even 4 – 4 on the season.
