Bengals Injury Report: Vontaze Burfict, Marvin Jones, Kevin Zeitler

By on 10/04/2014 03:30:00 PM

The Cincinnati Bengals could could be without one of their top playmakers when they travel to Foxborough for a tilt with the New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football.”

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict is the biggest name on Cincinnati's final Week 5 injury report. Burfict is officially listed as doubtful after suffering two concussions earlier in the season.

Burfict led the league in tackles a year ago and is a critical part of a Cincinnati defense that has emerged as one of the best in the NFL. New England's offense has not really clicked yet, but could awaken at any time, meaning Burfict's potential absence could be costly.

Wide receiver Marvin Jones is also listed as doubtful and will likely be unable to make his season debut on Sunday. Jones is typically the Bengals' No. 2 option behind A.J. Green, although Cincinnati has received solid production from Mohamed Sanu this season.

Starting right guard Kevin Zeitler is also unlikely to play after injuring his calf Week 2. Mike Pollack, has been starting in place of Zeitler, also is listed with a knee injury, but he is expected to play.

The only player the Bengals will be without for sure is rookie defensive tackle Brandon Thompson, who remains out with a knee injury. A few other players were limited in practice, but Cincinnati should have everyone else available.

Green is again listed with a nagging toe injury, but it would take something unexpected to keep him out. Defensive end Robert Geathers is also listed as probable after missing practice Wednesday with a toe injury.

Backup running back Rex Burkhead was not limited in practice despite a knee injury.

Linebackers Emmanuel Lamur (concussion) and Sean Porter (hamstring) are both expected to play. Safety George Iloka is also probable after being limited in practice on Wednesday with an abdomen injury.

Rounding out the injury report, defensive end Margus Hunt was limited in practice all week with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable.
