Blackhawks Injury Update: Corey Crawford will miss this weekend's roadtrip

The Chicago Blackhawks will have to endure a minor setback as starting goaltender Corey Crawford will be sidelined with an upper-body injury for their upcoming two game road trip starting tonight in Nashville. According to Chris Kuc of, Finnish netminder Antti Raanta will get the start against the Predators tonight and the St. Louis Blues on Saturday as Crawford attempts to recover from an injury not thought to be serious.

Crawford suffered the injury at practice on Monday and was surprisingly scratched from Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Raanta stepped in and impressed his teammates and the home crowd at the United Center as he pitched a 4-0 shutout and stopped all 32 shots he faced in his first action of the season.

There is a chance that former University of Maine goaltender Scott Darling may get an opportunity to start for Chicago on Sunday against Ottawa, if Crawford is not quite ready to return.

Crawford has had a nice start to the season going 3-0-1 with a .925 save percentage in his four starts. He also had a nice season last year winning 32 games in 59 appearances and helping the Blackhawks advance to the Western Conference Finals before being dispatched in seven games by the eventual Stanley Cup champions, the Los Angeles Kings.
