Blue Jackets Injury Update: Artem Anisimov leaves game after big hit [Video]

By on 10/28/2014 11:30:00 PM

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov left Tuesday's game and did not return, as confirmed by the team's official Twitter account. The injury occurred when Anisimov received a massive hit from Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba, who was assessed a five-minute major and 10-minute game misconduct penalty.

The hit looks to have gotten Anisimov right in the head. He stayed down on the ice, and was eventually able to skate off. He went directly to the dressing room.

In nine games played this season, the 26-year-old center has two goals and as many assists. Last season, he appeared in 81 games. He scored 22 goals and added 17 assists.

After the game, head coach Todd Richards said that Anisimov will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Until we have more information, it's impossible to know the extent of the injury. With any hit to the head, the word concussion comes to mind. With all the injuries the team is having this season, an extended time off will only make things worse.
